Originally intended for ammunition

Textile adhesive tape, duct tape, carpet tape, gaffa. We all know her. Its history dates back to 1942, when it was custom-made by the US Army to insulate ammunition boxes. This treasure should not be missing in any EDC, its uses are countless, we will look at a few of them.

First Aid– Dozens of ways to use gaffes. For example, it can be used to compress a sprained ankle, as a tourniquet, as a wing patch or as a substitute for a blister patch. Tape up broken ribs: If you have broken or fractured your ribs but still need to function, you can give them support with duct tape.

Fire – Duct tape is made of PE foil, textile insert and glue. It burns great. A roll of tape can be used as a lighter. Can also be used as a chip “binder”. You tear off a piece of tape and stick chips on it. That way, you will be able to start a fire calmly, even if the wind is bothering you.

Resealing food – Use tape to seal partially opened packages. Fold over the top of the package and seal tightly with duct tape. You can also seal cans similarly.

Repairs of all kinds

Patches – The tape is waterproof, so you can seal a hole in a boat or a tent, it will seal a torn sleeping bag, container or hydro bag. Repair of work gloves. You mend shoes. I recently fixed a cracked bucket with a carpet cleaner. 🙂

Tent repair

Eyeglass repair – If your glasses break in nature, repair them using duct tape. You might look like a nerd, but at least you’ll see something…

Car or bike repair – Duct tape can temporarily help you repair a car – repair a broken pipe, fix “cobwebs” on the glass, secure parts of the car after a car accident (for example, if you break your mirror). Repair of cracked handlebar or saddle grips.

Sealing with duct tape

Marking the way – If you get lost on the way, you can use sticky tape to mark, for example on tree trunks or branches. Alternatively, you can hang a lightstick on it

And others…

Temporary hem on the pants – if you need to quickly shorten the pants, you simply fold the excess fabric inside and stick duct tape.

Removes dirt – Use the sticky side to remove sand from the tent, lint from clothes or even dirt from the mirror.

Shoelace – If you roll up duct tape, you can make a pretty durable replacement shoelace.

Emergency shoelace

Keeps feet warm – If you want your winter boots to accumulate more heat, stick duct tape on the insole of the boots. The reflective surface of the tape will help reflect heat back to the flats of your feet, so your feet stay nice and warm!

Keeps your feet just OK – You are waiting for a shower in a dirty place and you forgot your slippers – put duct tape on your feet. Better than taking a wart away.

Wart Removal – This one isn’t completely scientifically proven, but it seems to work. The theory is that if you keep the wart completely covered for several days, you cut off the oxygen supply and suffocate it. It should be done in 6 days.

Opening glasses – Can’t open glasses? Wrap the lid with a piece of duct tape. Leave one end unglued. Just pull it and that’s it.

Duct tape can be found in all our kits. And as a wise man says – if the adhesive tape didn’t help you, then you didn’t use enough of it!
